OctaDezx vs Intercom: what Fin really costs when it works well
Intercom's Fin is one of the strongest AI agents on the market, and it charges 0.99 dollars every time it resolves something. Here is the maths that follows from that, and where each product genuinely wins.

Key takeaways
- Intercom charges 0.99 dollars per Fin outcome, on top of seats listed from 29 dollars per seat a month on annual billing.
- Per resolution pricing means your bill rises as the AI gets better, which is the opposite direction from every other efficiency you will ever buy.
- At a thousand AI resolutions a month, Fin outcomes alone are close to 990 dollars before you count a single seat.
- Intercom is genuinely stronger for software products: in app messaging, product tours, outbound campaigns and mature analytics.
- OctaDezx includes AI in a flat plan, from 9 dollars a month, and is built around selling across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Shopify rather than in app support.
Intercom made the boldest bet in this market. Rather than selling AI as an add on that helps agents type faster, it priced Fin as an outcome: you pay when the AI actually resolves the conversation. It is a confident model, and it says something real about how much they trust the product.
It also has a consequence most buyers do not model until the third invoice, which is what this comparison is about.
The per outcome model, worked through
Fin is priced at 0.99 dollars per outcome. Intercom counts an outcome when a customer confirms the issue is resolved, when they do not come back after Fin answers, or when Fin completes a workflow including a handover. You are only charged once per conversation, even if Fin answers several questions inside it. Seats are separate, listed from 29 dollars per seat a month on annual billing.
Now put volume through it. If your business has a thousand conversations a month that the AI can handle, and Fin resolves them, that is roughly 990 dollars in outcome charges. Add three seats and you are meaningfully past a thousand dollars a month.
Here is the part worth sitting with. Every improvement you make to your help content increases Fin's resolution rate, and every point of resolution rate increases your bill. You are paying more precisely because the system is working. That is a coherent way to sell software, and it is also a genuinely strange incentive to sign up for.
Model your Fin cost at the deflection rate you are aiming for, not the one you have today. The whole point of the project is to move that number, and the invoice moves with it.

|---|---|---|

| Entry price | 9 dollars a month | Seat price plus usage |

| Order taking | Native, prices verified against your catalogue | Not the product's purpose |
What Intercom is genuinely better at
- In app messaging. If your product is software and you need to talk to users inside it, this is Intercom's home ground and it is very good at it.
- Product tours and onboarding flows, which sit naturally alongside support and have no equivalent in OctaDezx.
- Outbound messaging and lifecycle campaigns tied to product behaviour.
- Maturity. Fin has been in the market a long time, with the tooling, reporting and controls that come from that.
- Deploying on top of an existing help desk. Intercom will run Fin against another system such as Salesforce, at the same per outcome rate with no seat cost, which is a genuinely useful option if you are not replacing your stack.
What OctaDezx does better
- Cost predictability at volume. AI resolutions are included, so a good month for deflection is simply a good month.
- Commerce. The agent takes orders and verifies every price and total server side against your catalogue rather than trusting what the model produced.
- The channels small businesses actually sell on. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Shopify and a web widget, with shared memory across them.
- Comment replies on Facebook and Instagram posts, which is where a lot of pre sale questions actually appear.
- Setup without an implementation. Import a catalogue from a URL, write policies in plain language, connect a channel.
Choose Intercom when
- You sell software and your support happens inside your product.
- You want product tours, onboarding flows and behavioural outbound messaging in the same system as support.
- You want to add a strong AI agent to a help desk you are keeping.
- Your volume is low enough that per outcome pricing stays comfortable, or high margin enough that it does not matter.
Choose OctaDezx when
- You sell physical products and most questions are pre sale: stock, sizing, delivery, price.
- Your customers message you on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook.
- You want the AI to complete the order, not hand it back to a person.
- You need to forecast a support cost that does not rise as automation improves.
Prices here were checked in July 2026 from each vendor's own public pricing page. Every vendor in this comparison changes pricing regularly, so treat these as a starting point and confirm the current numbers before you commit to anything.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does Intercom Fin cost?
- Intercom charges 0.99 dollars per Fin outcome. An outcome is counted when the customer confirms resolution, does not ask for more help after Fin replies, or when Fin completes a workflow including a handover. You are charged once per conversation even if several questions are answered. Seats are billed separately.
- Is there a cheaper alternative to Intercom?
- Several, but the comparison depends on volume. Because Intercom charges per resolution, the gap widens as your AI handles more. OctaDezx includes AI resolutions in a flat plan starting at 9 dollars a month, so at higher volumes the difference becomes large. At very low volume, the per outcome model can be cheaper.
- Is Fin better than other AI support agents?
- Fin is a strong product with a long track record and good grounding in help centre content, and it is fair to say it set the standard for this category. The right question is not which agent is best in the abstract, but which one answers your questions, on your channels, at a cost you can forecast.
